Morning Meeting and Word Work
Every morning the students participate in calendar math, I use both SMART board activities, a concrete calendar, and manipulatives for morning routines. We are finishing our Student of the Day and will continue until every child has their special day. Using our ALL ABOUT ME bags the Student of the Day gets to tell us all about their interests. In an interview format, students ask the Student of the Day questions and then as a class we write a short narrative about the student during morning work.
After we finish our student of the day we will start our words of the week. Each word will be added to our word wall. The words of the week/s are always taught in context, and chosen from the poem of the month.
